Established since 2014, the Salish Sea Stewards is a volunteer program of the Skagit County Marine Resources Committee in partnership with Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. 

Our program offers approximately 40 hours of FREE community science training each year focused on the marine environment and how to connect with the different volunteer opportunities to make a difference in the community.  In return, participants commit 40 hours of volunteer service in protecting the marine environment over the course of one year.

Learn from many local experts on a variety of topics impacting the Salish Sea.  Classes are held Tuesdays each week starting in February- April from 1pm-5pm at Padilla Bay and are mostly lecture-style, but also include some hands-on field training.  

After completing the training program, participants will have the opportunity to continue to stay connected and informed of special events, volunteer opportunities, volunteer social activities, and other learning opportunities.
